The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (hereafter FFWPU) held the “Invitational Leader’s Briefing Session of Victory Commemorating the 4^th Memorial Anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Seonghwa” at Kim Dae-Jung Convention Center in Gwangju City from 5pm on the 21^st. (photo)

This event was hosted to praise the thought and principles taught by FFWPU founder Rev. Moon, who dedicated his entire life to world peace and harmony, as well as the reunification of the Korean peninsula.

With participation of more than 400 leaders of the Honam district from various walks of life, the event began with a commemorative video of Rev. Moon, followed by a welcoming address by General Director of Universal Cultural Foundation Julia H. Moon, a congratulatory address by the Chairman of the Gwangju City Council, Eun-Bang Lee, a commemorative speech by FFWPU Korean President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu and a victory proclamation by Ambassadors for Peace Gwangju Chairman Myung-Hwan Ban, followed by a dinner banquet.

Korean FFWPU President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu said, “Over the next four years, Korea and the world shall face various changes and will have to find solutions for many social problems, including conflicts between social classes, economic crises and low birthrates.” He then continued, “The 4^th memorial anniversary of Rev. Moon’s Seonghwa is an opportunity for us to carve deeply into our hearts the principle of Rev. In his condolatory video message, Vice-Speaker Ju-Soon Park stated, “Rev. Moon played a big role in peace on the Korean peninsula by meeting Kim Il-Sung in person in the state of deadlock and crisis of North and South Korea.” He continued, “Today, in a time when Korean peninsular peace is facing great threat due to North Korean nuclear problems, Rev. Moon’s absence seems even greater.”

Vice-Chairman of Gwangju City Council Chun-Su Park stated in his condolatory message, “I would like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Hak Ja Han and to the members of the Unification Church for carrying on Rev. Moon’s dedication and will for development and peace in South Korea.” He said, “For us who are still in pain from the division, Rev. Moon’s life is like a milestone.”

In his commemoratory speech, Kyeung-Seuk Ryu said, “Rev. Moon guided us throughout his life as a teacher,” and emphasized, “Over the next four years, Korea and the world will be facing various changes and will have to find solutions for many social problems such as conflicts between social classes, economic crises and low birthrates.”

On this day, Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu previously met with the Mayor of Gwangju City Jang-Hyeon Yun, and formed an agreement to make a plan to praise and join Rev. Moon’s movements for world peace and unification of the Korean peninsula.

Mayor Jang-Hyeon Yun said, “The conclusion to humanity’s pursuit is peace,” and said, “The solution to conflicts and barriers between Youngnam and Honam, or South and North, can be found in Rev. Moon’s peace movements.”

The series of regional Invitational Leader’s Briefing Sessions were prepared to cast light on the  achievements of the peace movements carried out by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han, who have devoted themselves toward the realization of world peace and human salvation.
