The teaching staff of the Education Foundation Sun Moon Academy and the Aewon Volunteer Organization engaged in its “Briquettes of Love” delivery activities in Susaek-dong, Uenpyeong-gu, Seoul, on the 12^th.

The price of briquettes this year hit three strikes and rose due to economic recession, illegal solicitations and the enforcement of laws prohibiting bribery, thus negatively impacting the amount of donated briquettes from briquette banks, and causing increasing concern for low-income populations and their lack of energy to ride out impending harsh winters.

For this to happen, the Sun Moon Academy reduced its expenses earmarked for an employee workshop and instead parlayed the funds toward this volunteer activity.

Under the great support of the Community Service Center of Susaek-dong and the Sun Moon Society Volunteer Center, 15,000 briquettes were donated. The purchasing costs of the briquettes were all covered by voluntary donations from employees.

The areas receiving the briquettes are Susaek-dong, Uenpyeong-gu, Seoul, as well as the whole area of Asan, Chungnam.

On this day in Susaek-dong, 10,000 briquettes were delivered to senior citizens living alone, the homeless, and a self-built rest area for the disabled by the employees of Sun Moon Academy-affiliated organizations, such as the Sunhwa Preschool, Kyeongbuk Elementary School, Sunhwa Arts School, Sunjung Middle School, Sunhwa Arts High School and Sunjung Tourism High School.

On the same day, in Asan, 40 international students and employees from the “Hyojung World Peace Foundation” at Sun Moon University delivered 5,000 briquettes to 20 households.

The Sun Moon Academy is currently making efforts to train talented individuals in each field based upon the founding philosophies of the loving God, loving the people and loving one’s country.

Welcoming its 20^th anniversary of foundation, the Aewon Volunteer Organization claims to support cultural and artistic welfare, and is engaging in many activities in the realm of culture and the arts.
