 International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace, Founded in Washington, D.C., USA… Parliamentarians from 50 Countries Participate



Dr. Hak Ja Han is giving her keynote address at the Launching Ceremony of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace that was held at the National Assembly in Washington, D.C., on the 30th.



The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and the Washington Times Foundation held the International Leadership Conference commemorating the 4th anniversary of the passing of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, Founder of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, at the Assembly Hall and the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., from November 28 to December 1.

Along with the ILC opening ceremony on the 28th of November, the Founding Ceremony of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace took place in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Building of the Assembly Hall of America.



Dr. Hak Ja Han is giving her keynote address at the Launching Ceremony of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace that was held at the National Assembly in Washington, D.C., on the 30th.

Through her keynote address this day, Dr. Hak Ja Han said, “Movements where God, the original owner of the universe, is worshipped by families and the world must take place,” and presented a vision of peace movements by adding, “Humankind has to take on the responsibility of being able to fulfill the dreams of God, and thus, go through the growth process towards the blessing that brings one ultimately together with God.”




Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) is giving a speech at the Launching Ceremony of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace, which was held at the National Assembly Building in Washington, D.C., on the 30th.



In addition to Dr. Hak Ja Han, the event was participated by Senator Orrin Hatch, US Congressmen Matt Salmon and Danny Davis, former US Congressman Dan Burton, former Chairman of the National Assembly of the Philippines Jose de Venezia, former Nepalese Prime Minister Madav, former President of the Marshall Islands Kesai Note and Tae-Ik Chung, President of the Korean Council of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, 300 people were present at the event, including International Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation, Sun-Jin Moon, the Chairman of the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace, Kwon-Jin Moon, the International President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, Yeon-Ah Moon, the International President of UPF, Thomas Walsh, the President of the Washington Times Foundation, Michael Jenkins, the Chairman of the Washington Times Foundation, Thomas McDevitt, the Korean and American Presidents of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, Kyeung-Seuk Ryu and Ki-Hoon Kim, as well as current political, religious, media, civic and women’s  group leaders from 54 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, Denmark, South Korea, Brazil, Paraguay, Israel, the Philippines, Ukraine, India, Nepal, Zambia and Fiji.


Co-Chairman and US Representative Dan Burton (R-Indiana) is giving a speech at the Launching Ceremony of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace that was held at the National Assembly Hall in Washington, D.C., on the 30th.


This organization will continue to pursue a path to coexistence, mutual prosperity and the development of mankind, in order to construct a sustainable and everlasting world of peace that we can bequeath to our future generations. It was, therefore, determined that an organization of parliamentarians was needed on a worldwide dimension, resulting in the founding of a chapter in each area.


The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace came into fruition when representatives from countries all over the world empathized the necessity of an international network that would provide solidarity and a joint alliance for peace, especially in the face of conflicts that threaten the realization of world peace and human development, such as territorial disputes, religious conflicts, racial tensions, climate change, terrorism, nuclear threats, poverty and famine.


With 450 people from 60 countries around the world participating, including 150 Parliamentarians from 40 countries, the ceremony began with the Foundation Resolution event held at the Korean National Assembly Building on February 15. This event was also preceded by foundation ceremonies in Asia and Oceania (Nepal) from the 28th to 30th of July, in Western and Central Africa (Burkina Faso) from the 8th to 10th of August, in Central American and the Caribbean Sea (Costa Rica) from the 6th to 8th of October, in South America (Paraguay) from October 10 to 12, as well as in East Africa (Zambia) from the 5th to 7th of November, concluding the series of global events with its finale in Washington, D.C., on this day.....
