FFWPU Holds Commemorative Ceremony for the Founders’ Birthday and Foundation Day

The Hyo Jung World Peace Foundation awards 2,000 students scholarships totaling 10 billion won.

Attended by 30,000 parliamentarians, leaders and members from around the world


The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (founded by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon; hereafter referred to as “FFWPU”) has prepared a variety of events to commemorate the birthday of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and the 4th Anniversary of Foundation Day.

At a press conference held for the New Year on January 11, FFWPU Korea President Kyeung- Seuk Ryu announced, “A series of commemorative events will be held under the slogan of ‘Shining Rays of Hope Around the World with a Filial Heart for Heaven.’”


The events co-sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Sunhak Peace Prize Committee, and the Hyo Jung World Peace Foundation will be attended by approximately 30,000 people, including 1,000 leaders and parliamentarians from the USA, England, Brazil, the Philippines, Nepal, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, will attend the awards ceremony.

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification will commemorate the birthday of its founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon (January 6 by the Lunar Calendar) on February 2 at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. The birthday celebration will be attended by 1,000 parliamentarians, politicians, diplomats, religious leaders, educators and cultural and NGO leaders, etc. The events will shed new light on the ideals and accomplishments of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, who have worked for the realization of a peaceful world under the vision of “one human family.” It will also strengthen the international network in order to promote prosperity for all humankind.


The birthday celebration will be followed by the IAPP event at the National Assembly Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.

The IAPP was created based on the understanding that an international organization of parliamentarians is needed in order to establish a world of coexistence, mutual prosperity and everlasting peace. The founding members of each continental chapter will gather in Korea to launch the organization to a global level.


President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu explained, “Following the signing of a declaration to establish the IAPP on February 15 of last year, continental chapters of the IAPP were launched in Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America, etc. In December of last year, the North American chapter of the IAPP was launched on Capitol Hill in the presence of U.S. congressmen and representatives from each continent.” Parliamentarians from Korea and nations all over the world will attend the IAPP event on February 2.


On the following day, February 3, the Second Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony will take place. The Sunhak Peace Prize was established based on the peace vision of “one human family,” and the winners were selected out of 100 nominees from 80 nations over a year-long process.


Dr. Gino Strada (68) will be honored and awarded for providing emergency medical relief to those in the epicenter of conflict throughout the Middle East and Africa over the past 28 years, saving 8 million lives. Dr. Sakena Yacoobi (66) will be honored and awarded for developing an innovative solution to the refugee resettlement problem through education, especially in Afghan refugee camps. They will each receive a medal and $ 1 million USD.


The Hyo Jung World Peace Foundation will present scholarships totaling 10 billion won on February 5 at the Cheong Shim International Youth Training Center in Gapyeong-gun. Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon will be present as 2,000 global students, including 500 from Korea and 1500 from 70 different nations receive scholarships.

100 of the 2,000 students will be representing 10 different religious groups. Additional scholarships will be presented to 300 children of multicultural families and North Korean defectors. The Hyo Jung World Peace Foundation, which was established in February of 2013 as the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation prior to changing its name, has selected 2,000 global students each year to receive scholarships totaling 10 billion won.


The grand finale will be the celebration of the 4th Anniversary of Foundation Day held on February 9 at the Cheon Jeong Heavenly Palace Museum.


According to FFWPU, Foundation Day is alluded to in the Bible as the day marking the end of the 6,000-year history of sin and the start of a new era. It is the day when the providence for the settlement of God’s nation, the Nation of Cosmic Peace and Unity (Cheon Il Guk) begins on earth. Leaders and members of FFWPU from all over the world will attend this celebration as one FFWPU’s primary holy ceremonies.


In addition, the International Leadership Conference’s World Summit 2017 and the International Conference on the Unity of Sciences (ICUS) will be held at the Lotte World Hotel from February 1-5.

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) will commemorate the birthday of its founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon (February 2; January 6 by the Lunar Calendar) and the 4th Anniversary of Foundation Day (February 9; January 13 by the Lunar Calendar) with a variety of events and programs.

At the Second Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony, Italian surgeon Dr. Gino Strada and Afghan educator Dr. Sakena Yacoobi were awarded and recognized for their contribution to the refugee crisis. On February 2, 2017, a birthday celebration for Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon will be held at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. Rev. Sun Myung Moon was born on January 6, 1920 (by the Lunar Calendar), and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon was born on January 6, 1943 (by the Lunar Calendar). Each year, FFWPU celebrates their birthday on January 6 by the Lunar Calendar.

 

1,000 people, including current parliamentarians, politicians, religious leaders, diplomats, educators and NGOs from nations all over the world attended the birthday celebration of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the “peace-loving global citizens.” The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) will also host an event at the National Assembly Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the same day.

The Second Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony will take place on February 3 at the Lotte World Hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul. This year’s recipients of the Sunhak Peace Prize are Dr. Strada and Dr. Yacoobi.

 

Dr. Strada will be honored and awarded for providing emergency medical relief to those in the epicenter of conflict throughout the Middle East and Africa over the past 28 years, saving 8 million lives. Dr. Yacoobi will be honored and awarded for developing an innovative solution to the refugee resettlement problem through education, especially in Afghan refugee camps.

 

The Hyo Jung World Peace Foundation will present scholarships totaling 10 billion won on February 5 at the Cheong Shim International Youth Training Center in Gapyeong-gun. 2,000 global students, including 500 from Korea and 1500 from 70 different nations will receive scholarships. 100 of these students will be representing 10 different religious groups.

Rev. Sun Myung Moon was born on January 6, 1920 (by the Lunar Calendar), and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon was born on January 6, 1943 (by the Lunar Calendar). Each year, FFWPU celebrates their birthday on January 6 by the Lunar Calendar.

 

The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) will also host an event at the National Assembly Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the same day at 3 PM. Parliamentarians from Korea and nations all over the world will attend the IAPP event on this day.
