Universal Ballet’s ‘Shim Chung’ Wins Grand Prize at the ‘3rd Seoul Arts Center Awards’

The Seoul Arts Center announced the winners of 15 different performing arts categories, including the performance of “Shim Chung” as the grand prize winner, at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 17th.

In the music category, grand prizes were awarded to Riccardo Muti and the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra for “Best Orchestra,” the Korean Chamber Orchestra’s Pinchas Zukerman and the 2016 KCO New Year’s Concert for “Best Chamber Music,” as well as the Seoul Motet Choir’s 103rd Concert for “Best Choir.”

In the performance category, grand prizes were awarded to the ballet performance of “Shim Chung,” to ballerina Ji-Yeong Kim for “Best Performer,” and opera director Kyeong-Jae Lee for “Best Director/Choreography.”

The Audience Choice Award for Music went to the “Chopin Competition and Main Prize-Winners’ Concert.” The Audience Choice Award for Performance went to the opera, “Turandot.”

In the exhibition category, the grand prize went to the “Seoul International Sculpture Festa 2016,” and the Audience Choice Award went to “Anthony Brown’s Happy Museum.”
