In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, the Unification Hanmadang Festival took place in the Plaza of Love at the Chunhyang Theme Park in Namwon, Jeonbook, on the 10th.


At the event on this day, leaders of women’s organizations around the country, as well as 3,000 citizens participated, including the President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, Yeon-Ah Moon, the Korean President of the Women’s Federation, Young-Seon Choi, the Mayor of Namwon, Hwan-Ju Lee, Municipal Assemblyman of Namwon Seok-Bo Lee, various members of the city and provincial assembly and the Female Director of the Ministry of Health of Jeonbook, Cheol-Ung Park.

In her message by the founder called “World Peace and the Role of Women,” Yeon-Ah Moon, President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, said, “Due to the active participation of members from 180 countries, we have been able to diagnose and sound the alarm of our modern civilization that is in serious danger because of declining morality, the establishment of new values, youth corruption, family breakdown, AIDS, drugs and crime,” and emphasized, “Let us women lead the way and gather our strength for the settlement of peace on Earth.”

Women’s Federation 25th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony- Unification Hanmadang



The 25th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony and the Unification Hanmadang Festival of the Women’s Federation were held at the Plaza of Love in Namwon, Jeonrabookdo, on the 10th. The event was attended by 3,000 members of the Women’s Federation, local leaders, and citizens of Namwon, including the International President of the Women’s Federation, Yeon-Ah Moon, the Korean President Young-Seon Choi, the Mayor of Namwon, Hwan-Ju Lee, the President of the Namwon Citys Assembly, Seok-Bo Lee, the Female Director of the Ministry of Health of Jeonbook, Cheol-Ung Park, the President of the North and South Unification Movement National Assembly, Kwang-Seuk Song and members of Jeonbook’s City Assembly, Sang-Hyeon Lee and Yong-Ku Kang.


On this day, through a message by the founders called “World Peace and the Role of Women,” the International President of the Women’s Federation, Yeon-Ah Moon, emphasized the importance of women peace movements by saying, “In the 21st century, women must work with men to form a team and become the driving force in world history. The role of women in the process of creating an era of love and culture instead of power and technology has become very important. Awakened women are the center of love, peace and service. World peace itself resides within a mother in family, the school of love and morality, which remain the key fundamentals.”


The event began with a buzzy Pungmul traditional performance called “Aju” by the Pungmul team of the Incheon Branch of the Women’s Federation, with the topic of “A Dream of Unification! The Path of Peace and Beautiful Country.” The first part of the celebration proceeded with Vice-President Seong-Soon Hong as the officiator, and in the order of the Pledge of Allegiance, the reciting of a message of the founders by the International President, Yeon-Ah Moon, a commemorative message by the Korean President Young-Seon Choi, the congratulatory messages of Jeonbook Governor, Ha-Jin Song (Reciting of Director Cheol-Ung Park), the Mayor of Namwon, and the President of Namwon’s City Assembly, Seok-Bo Lee and the presentation of award certificates to 45 outstanding members.


The Women’s Federation is an NGO and part of the Economic and Social Council of the UN, having the consultative status to present an agenda to the UN. Women’s Federation for World Peace, Appeal of “World Peace and North and South Unification” for “25th Anniversary of Foundation”



The World President of the Women’s Federation, Yeon-Ah Moon, is reciting a message of the founders at the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Women’s Federation for World Peace and the Unification Hanmadang Festival that took place at the Plaza of Love of Namwon, Jeonbook, on the 10th.

The event on this day began by a Pungmul Traditional performance by the “Aju” Pungmul team of the Incheon branch of the Women’s Federation, with the topic of “A Dream of Unification! The Path of Peace and Beautiful Country,” and the program proceeded in two parts.

The first part was the celebration ceremony and was officiated by the Korean Vice-President of the Women’s Federation, Seong-Soon Hong, and proceeded in the order of the Pledge of Allegiance, the reciting of a message of the founders by the International President, Yeon-Ah Moon, a commemorative message by the Korean President Young-Seon Choi, the congratulatory messages of Jeonbook Governor, Ha-Jin Song (Reciting of Director Cheol-Ung Park), the Mayor of Namwon, and the President of Namwon’s City Assembly, Seok-Bo Lee and the delivery of award certificates to 45 outstanding members.


The second part was the “Unification Hanmadang Festival.” Korean traditional music and drum performances, a recitation of a poem for unification by the Chairman of Board of the Women’s Federation, Jong-Uh Ko, songs by the Women’s Federation’s choir, as well as a song by member Kimura Junko about the longing for unification, took place and the event reached a climax with the “Unification Performance.”



Guests and participants are pledging their allegiance at the “25th anniversary of founding and Unification Hanmadang Festival” of the Women’s Federation for World Peace that took place at the Plaza of Love in Namwon, Jeonbook, on the 10th.



During the unification performance, the city and town branch managers of the Women’s Federation wrote their wishes of unification on cards and hang them on the “3.8 Line DMZ Barbed-Wire Fence” that symbolized the division between North and South, and then held the time to cut them.


This performance conveyed the meaning surrounding how Germany was unified after tearing down the Berlin Wall. Women were to lead the way in the position of a mother, and with the desire of unification, cut the 3.8 line barbed-wire fence; and thus, create a unified and beautiful country.


The members of the Women’s Federation and citizens then went on to shout, “A Dream of Unification! A Path of Peace and Beautiful Country, Korea!” while waving the Unification Flag, bringing the event to an end.




The 25th anniversary ceremony of the Women’s Federation and the Unification Hanmadang Festival is taking place at the Plaza of Love in Namwon, Jeonbook, on the 10th.



The members of the Women’s Federation visited the “Manin Cemetery of Righteous Fighters” in Hyanggyo, Namwon, and paid their respects. The cemetery is a tomb for the soldiers that were killed in action in by fighting off Japanese invaders in 1597.


The Women’s Federation, which was founded on April 10, 1992, earned the consultative status to present agendas to the UN in 1997 as an NGO part of the Economic and Social Council. It then went on to succeed in reclaiming this title five times, becoming a global and influential NGO.

In her message by the founder called “World Peace and the Role of Women,” Yeon-Ah Moon, the President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, revealed, “Due to the active participation of members from 180 countries, we have been able to diagnose and sound the alarm of our modern civilization that is in serious danger because of declining morality, the establishment of new values, youth corruption, family breakdown, AIDS, drugs and crime.” President Moon then went on to say, “When True Parents, True Husband and Wife and True Children worship God and create a peaceful family, thus spreading ethnically, nationally and globally, a true world peace will be realized,” and added, “Let us keep families safe through the correct education of values and True Family movements, keeping in mind our special sense of duty to construct this national righteously and for the unification movements.”

 

In a congratulatory message, Korean President Young-Seon Choi said, “For the past 25 years, the Women’s Federation for World Peace has walked a path of women’s peace movements for the realization of world peace,” and emphasized, “Let us gather our strength to constantly prepare for North and South unification for the next 25 years as well, for our future generations.”

 

Then the event went on to proceed with traditional Korean music and drum performances at the Unification Hanmadang Fesitval, with the topic, “A Dream of Unification! A Path of Peace and a Beautiful Country.” The Women’s Federation choir, which is made up of 70 members of the federation around the country, sang “Unification Eog Mansei,” a song that wishes for unification. During the unification performance, the city and town branch managers of the Women’s Federation wrote their wishes of unification on cards and hung them on the “3.8 Line DMZ Barbed-Wire Fence” that symbolized the division between North and South. The 3.8 line barbed-wire fences were then cut, and a pledge for women to lead the way in fulfilling the dream of the Korean Peninsula and opening the path of peace was made. When the 3.8 line barbed-wire fences opened and the Unification Flags mounted the stage, the members of the Women’s Federation and citizens that were participating also waved their Unification flags and strongly shouted, “A Dream of Unification! A Path of Peace and a Beautiful Country!”

 

After the event, the members of the Women’s Federation visited the Manin Cemetery of Righteous Fighters that is located in Hyanggyo, Namwon, and paid their respects to the fallen heroes that had died protecting their country.
