Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland, ‘Grassroots Unification Movement,’ 30 Years in the Making
On the afternoon of May 10, Hak Ja Han Moon (Mrs. Moon) is giving the commemorative address at the 30th Founding Anniversary of the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherlandthat was held at the 63 Building Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom in Yeouido, Seoul. This year marked the 30th year since the founding of the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland, which has taken the initiative in the “Grassroots Unification Movement.” The Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland held its 30th founding anniversary at the 63 Building Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, located in Yongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on May 10 at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Moon; the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Foreign Affairs & Unification Committee Chairman Jae-Gwon Shim (of the Democratic Party of Korea); Vice-Minister of Unification Hyeong-Seok Kim; the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Education, Culture, Sports & Tourism Committee Chairman Seong-Yeob Yu (of the People’s Party); National Assembly member Im Jong-Seong (of the Democratic Party of Korea); National Assembly member Sang-Gyu Yeo (of the Liberty Korea Party); Former National Assembly member Ho-Chang Song (of the Democratic Party of Korea); Committee for Human Rights in North Korea Chairman Myeong-Cheol Jo; Family Federation for World Peace and Unification International President Sun Jin Moon, Women’s Federation for World Peace and Unification President Yeon-Ah Moon, Universal Cultural Foundation President Hoon-Sook Moon, Unification Korea Federation Chairman Gwang-Seok Song, along with over 2,500 members of the People’s Party, were in attendance at this occasion.
In addition, Democratic Party of Korea Representative Mi-Ae Chu; Representative Ho-Yeong Ju, the Acting Representative of the Bareun Party Representative; the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Security & Public Administration Committee Chairman Yu Jae-Jung (of the Liberty Korea Party); 48 bipartisan National Assembly members; Busan Metropolitan City Governor Byeong-Su Seo; Gyeonggi-do Governor Gyeong-Pil Nam; Chungcheongnam-do Governor Hwi-Jeong Ahn and 10 metropolitan local government chairmen; Metropolitan Provincial Assembly chairmen; 62 Shigun-gu local government chairmen, totaling to 120, gave encouragement and congratulatory messages.
 The 30th founding anniversary for the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland is being held at the 63 Building Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, located in Yeouido, Seoul, on May 10, in the afternoon. The agenda for this anniversary comprised of welcoming remarks from the People’s Party President Gwang-Seok Song; congratulatory remarks given by Foreign Affairs & Unification Committee Chairman Jae-Gwon Shim; a congratulatory address by the Minister of Unification (read by Vice-Minister of Unification Hyeong-Seok Kim); a commemorative address given by Mrs. Moon; reading of resolutions; a presentation of awards for superior organizations and individuals and a congratulatory performance by the Little Angels. Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon gave the commemorative address under the topic, “The Truth of History Viewed from Heaven’s Providence.” While looking back on world history, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon stated, “God first created all of creation, and then He created the first human ancestors. God gave the first human ancestors a responsibility. What made the world (like this) was caused from the fall of the first human ancestors. God raised the Israelites as a clan to carry out God’s Providence of Restoration through history. How did it turn out? This could not be completed, due to Jesus’s crucifixion on the cross. The history of Christianity embarked through the Holy Spirit’s resurrection. Expanding past the Italian peninsula and passing through the (European) continent to the United Kingdom, Christianity opened the age of the Atlantic Cultural Sphere, and expanded throughout the world.”  Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon is taking a commemorative photograph with awardees who have received the meritorious award at the 30th Founding Anniversary of the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland, which was held at the 63 Building Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, located in Yeouido, Seoul, on May 10, in the afternoon. Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon also stated, “However, we come to see the limits of Christianity. God had no choice but then choose a new nation that could give birth to the only begotten daughter (in relation to the only begotten son). That nation is Korea.”
Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon explained, “The newly-established Korean government must listen to God’s voice, and research what are the liberty, peace and unification that are truly required for this country… Unification cannot be achieved through human thinking. It also cannot be achieved through war and military might. We must achieve unification through the true love of living for the sake of others.” In continuation, after setting the premise as “The Unification of the Korean People is not an Issue Limited to Korea,” Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon stated, “(I) will soon conduct a meeting at the Japan Kokkai (National Diet) with its members, and I will meet the top leaders of Japan. I will present and discuss the issue of the unification of North and South Korea (with them). Like tributaries joining at a single point, Korea, Japan and Asian countries must join at a new culture of shimjung(Heart), and usher in the era of the Pacific Cultural Sphere.” Through this, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon revealed her intentions of standing at the forefront of leading efforts towards international cooperation for the peaceful unification of North and South Korea.

Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon stated, “You as the Citizen’s Federation members, must enlighten others about the underlying truth behind the course of history in preparation for the day we will be able to stand in front of the world as the central nation of history who will completely carry out her responsibilities in front of heaven.” Dr. Moon also the one million Citizen’s Federation members to completely invest in the Korean reunification movement.
Foreign Affairs & Unification Committee Chairman Jae-Gwon Shim stated, “Today at the National Assembly, our newly-inaugurated president gave statements regarding North-South relations and achieving peace on the Korean peninsula. The president gave statements regarding relations through non-governmental exchange with these at the core,” as the premise of his congratulatory address. Chairman Shim praised Citizen’s Federation by stating, “In the year, 1987, at a time when the thought of a reunification movement as the core thought of our society could not be even imagined, the Unification Korea Federation initiated the reunification movement as a pioneer. Taking the leading role above all other NGO’s for realizing unification of North and South Korea, it can be said that the Citizen’s Federation activities sufficiently provided the model for the reunification movement of Korea.”
Representatives of the one million Citizen’s Federation members from across the nation expressed their determination to go forth in preparation for a new era of unification, in which both North and South Korea can prosper together under a foundation of the head-wing thought, which itself is based on the spirit of establishing a nation that serves heaven and loves all humankind. At the same time, they once again expressed their opposition to North Korea’s nuclear armament.  Unification Korea Federation Chairman Gwang-Seok Song is giving the welcoming remarks at the 30th Founding Anniversary of the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland, held at the 63 Building Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, located in Yeouido, Seoul, on May 10, in the afternoon. The Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland, with its efforts throughout the past 30 years through its citizens’ grassroots reunification movement, became recognized through receiving awards and as a prosperous corporate body, especially through the President’s Award and Central Committee Award. This significance was more pronounced, through its receiving of the National Assembly Chairman Award (1 person), Minister of Unification Award (5 people), the National Assembly Foreign Affairs & Unification Chairman Award (5 people).
Meanwhile, after its founding on May 15, 1987, the Citizens Federation for the Unification of the Fatherland initiated various campaigns such as nationwide unification education training programs based on Unification Thought, as well as domestic and international reunification movement activities, to secure international support and cooperation from overseas Koreans and citizens from around the world; all for the sake of realizing the Koreans’ long-cherished desire of North-South unification.
