Youth and Students for World Peace, with the support of Thailand’s Government, launches the Peace and Purity Movement in the Asia-Pacific region

The Youth and Students for Peace, which is leading the World Peace and Purity Movement for youth and students across the world, transcending borders, races and religions, held the Asia-Pacific Inauguration Ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 12th and 13th (local time), sponsored by the Thai Ministry of Education.

 

According to the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, the event was attended by the Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, along with prominent Asian government officials, including the Thai Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Minister of Education Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, the Minister of Education of Sri Lanka Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Deputy Minister of Youth Information and Culture of Afghanistan Kamal Sadat, Chairman of the National Assembly Legislative Committee of Cambodia Pen Panha, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification-International President Sun-Jin Moon, Women’s Federation for World Peace and Unification-International President Yeon-Ah Moon, Universal Culture Federation Chairman Hoon-Sook Moon, Youth and Students for Peace International President Robert Kittel, Family Federation-Korea President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, and Family Federation-Asia President Chung-Shik Yong, etc., have attended, as well as other key officials of the Family Federation.

 

In addition, there were representatives from 35 Asia-Pacific nations, including Korea and Thailand, as well as Japan, China, Taiwan, Mongolia, Australia, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Fiji and about 17,000 people, including politicians, economics, education personnel, youth and women leaders, as well as youth and students in attendance. The venue was filled to capacity.

 

In particular, the Ministry of Education from each country showed great interest in the topics at hand. Ministers, deputies and members of Congress from Thailand, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, as well as from Indonesia, Cambodia, India and Malaysia, also attended.

 

On the first day, the 12th, at the Headquarters of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, about 1,700 people, including key national leaders, youth and students from all around the region gathered and held the “Inauguration for Youth and Students for Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region and Academic Conference,” with the theme, “The Role of Youth and Students in Creating a Culture of Sustainable Peace.”


 

On October 13 (local time) “Inauguration for Youth and Students for Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region,” was held at the IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.



Topic presentation and discussions were held by government officials and education leaders from each country of Asia-Pacific on the theme of “Governance of Sustainability and Youth's Responsibility for the Construction of the Country,” “Successful Future Preparation: Importance of Marriage and Family” and the “Responsibility of Youth in Building a Culture of Peace,” during each session.

 

On behalf of the founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, International president of the Family Federation Sun- Jin Moon gave a keynote speech saying, "Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon have put the core of the world peace vision at home. I know young people are looking forward to a day when they will marry and build a family.” She had also emphasized, “I would like to encourage you to do this with a sincere attitude to this task. Raising a child of good character and forming a family of true love are entirely relevant and essential to achieving a world of peace.”

 

In addition, she urged, "I hope you can be a person, who will contribute to the continuation of peace by learning and growing a lot during this conference. You are the hope of mankind and the shining lantern of the world. I wish you success and victory in your precious life. The world needs you. I want you to make good use of your time. "




On the 13th (local time), the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Marshal Prajin Juntong, was awarded Good Governance Prize on behalf of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, at the "Inauguration for Youth and Students for World Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region," held at the IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.



"Through education, we can learn how to live morally and meaningfully beyond the way of eating and living," said the Minister of Education, Dr. Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, who represented the government of Thailand.

"The Youth and Students for Peace is accomplishing something that the Ministry of Education (in Thailand) has not been able to do. So our government is working with the Youth and Students for Peace."

 

Minister Jareonsettasin said, "Any religion teaches love, including Christianity, Buddhism and Islam. Jesus also said, 'Love your neighbor' and Buddha also said, 'There is no greater value than love.'” He also promised support by saying, "Students can practice peace by learning pure true love. This program (Youth and Students for Peace) is a personality-based education program, so our government will actively support the Youth and Students for Peace."

 

On the following day, the 13th, over 15,000 people gathered receiving purity education based on the theme of "Pure Love: Stop Social Problems and Support Social Development," was held along with the main event, “Inauguration for Youth and Students for Peace” at the IMPACT Arena located in a suburb of Bangkok.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Marshal Prajin Juntong began his opening remarks by saying, "I am honored to be here on behalf of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha."

 

He said, "We are deeply grateful to Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon for our government to join together with the Youth and Students for Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region to create a healthy society through purity education. I hope the youth and students (Youth and Students for Peace) will continue to have a great impact by forming the right values. I pray for great victory for the building of the youth and student network."





On the 12th (local time), the International President of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Sun-Jin Moon gave a keynote speech at the "Inauguration for Youth and Students for Peace in the Asia-Pacific Region and Academic Conference," held at the Headquarters of the UN Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand.


Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the founder, said, "Those who are gathered today, 15,000 youth from the east, who are the leaders of the heartistic culture of Hyojeong, who are gathered here today, will become one and become the Messiah, the lantern of light to all of the peoples of the world, by riding the strong tide of the Pacific civilization era and going out into the world." She also said, "You (Youth and Students for Peace) is the hope of Asia and all mankind. We will open a world of freedom, equality, peace, unity and happiness, where God’s dream of ‘One Family’ will be realized.”

 

Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon also emphasized to the Youth and Students for Peace saying, "Youth and Students of the Asia and the Pacific, are the forerunners and leaders standing at the top of the world. I hope you can take great steps with courage.”

 

On the same day, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon presented the Good Governance Award to Prime Minister Chan-o-cha, and expressed gratitude for the full support of the Thai government. Deputy Prime Minister received the award on his behalf.

 

During this day's event, the Youth and Students for Peace vision statement, pledge of purity and special performances were prepared. The performances, especially the Little Angels, who are well-known around the world, were well-received, and brought harmony between Korea and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

 

This event was co-hosted by the Youth and Students for Peace together with the Family Federation, the Heaven and Earth Peace Federation, which is the Special Advisory Body of the UN Economic Social Council, the Women’s Federation, which is the primary NGO advisory body for the UN Economic Social Council.
