On the morning of the 16th, prior to the ‘Peace Road Korea 2017, Daegu city Big Run to Unification’ event, which was held in Daegu Jung-gu, Dongin-dong Gun Chae Bosang Memorial Park located in front of the Dalgubeol Grand Bell, cyclist participants are taking a commemorative photo.

‘Peace Road Korea 2017, Daegu Big Run to Unification’ is an event dedicated toward the unification of the Korean peninsula and world peace. This event was held at Daegu Jung-gu Gukchae Bosang Memorial Park on the 16th.

The event, which was held at 9:30AM on the same day, was hosted by the Unification Korea Federation, the Ambassador for Peace Council and the Heaven and Earth Peace Federation. This event was held with the support of the Unification Department, Daegu City, Daegu City Office of Education, Kyungbuk Province and the Kyungbuk Province Office of Education.

The event was attended by about 400 Daegu residents and various personal affairs including Local Autonomy Chief Administrator of Daegu City Jae-Kyung Jeon, Daegu City Council Chairman Gyu-Ha Ryu.

After announcing a peace message asking the world to participate in the reunification of the Korean Peninsula, 120 cyclists, including cyclists from Korea and Japan, paddled their bikes for approximately 25㎞ from Gukchae Bosang Memorial Park to Gangjeong Goryeong Stank.

The Peace Road Project was built on the basis of the International Peace Highway Project proposed by Dr. Sun-Myung Moon at the 10th International Scientific Unification Conference in Seoul in 1981.

Later in 2013, the Peace Road, which started as the “Peace Bike Big Run to Unification over 3800km between Korea and Japan,” was attended by 14 countries in 2014, and expanded into a worldwide project called Peace Road in 2015.

On the morning of the 16th, cyclists participating in the “Peace Road Korea 2017, Daegu City Big Run to Unification” event held in front of Daegu Junggu Dongin-dong Guk Chae Bosang Memorial Park Dalgubeoldae Grand Bell, made a strong start in promoting the reunification of the Korean Peninsula and world peace.

This year's event was celebrated by a Starting Ceremony held this past February 2, with 450 parliamentarians from 113 countries who attended at the National Assembly.

In South Korea, departing on the 14th and after arriving in Paju Imjingak on the 21st, about 500 representatives of the Peace Road participants will gather at Paju Imjingak and hold a ceremony to finish the race.

The Unification Korea Federation Chief Executive Kwang-Seok Song said, “It is meaningful that overseas Koreans and the global citizens from 125 countries have come together to cycle in their hope for reunifying the Korean Peninsula,” and continued, “Daegu citizens also want to join in the wave of peaceful unification.”....
