[KBS News] Parliamentarians from 70 countries hope for an ‘improvement of North-South relations through Pyeongchang’ Today, the
International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace hosted the “2018
International Conference” at the National Assembly of Korea, attended by incumbent
and former Assembly Members from 70 countries.

Pyeongchang Olympics’ Today, the
International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace hosted the “2018
International Conference” at the National Assembly of Korea, attended by
current and former Assembly Members from 70 countries.
Around 250 people
participated in the event, along with former US Congressman Dan Burton. The
welcoming speech was given by Congressman Jong-Seong Im of the Democratic Party
of Korea.
The participants
adopted the “Northeast Asia Peace Proclamation,” hoping that the 2018 Winter
Olympics in Pyeongchang will serve as a substantial opportunity to resolve the
North Korean nuclear issue and improve North-South relations.
Further emphasis was
placed on “improving relations between Korean, China and Japan, in addition to
the prosperity of Northeast Asia and realizing world peace, through the 2020
Summer Olympics in Tokyo, as well as the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.”
“Korea, China and Japan are strongly urged to sign the agreement of the ‘Peace Road Project,’ an underwater tunnel project between Korea and Japan, to connect the railway system of the Korean Peninsula with the Eurasian railway system.”.... |
