On May 27, an event to “realize peace on the Korean Peninsula by creating a healthy family” was held at the BEXCO Convention Center in Busan.

The Yeongnam region of the Fifth District of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (District Leader Pak Yeong-bae, hereinafter referred to as FFWPU) conducted the “2018 Yeongnam Rally for the March of Hope for a Heavenly Korea” that prayed for the realization of a Unified Korea and a happy family under the slogan, “Happy Family! Healthy Society! And to a Peaceful World!” with more than 10,000 participants including Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Busan Mayor Seo Byeong-su, Busan City Council Chairman Baek Jong-heon and the citizens of Yeongnam, as well as youths and students, at the second exhibition hall of the BEXCO Convention Center in Busan, on May 27.

In her keynote speech, Dr. Moon said, “We have gathered here today with our hope for a unified heavenly Korea where South and North Korea are united into one nation. But when we look at this world or this nation, it is obvious that we have come to the point where neither human effort nor human intelligence can solve the challenges we face.” She then continued, “The Korean people, as the people specially chosen and raised up by heaven, have a unique responsibility. Only when we become one with the Creator God can there be hope for the people of Korea. We must march forward into the world together with God.” In conclusion, Dr. Moon encouraged the participants by saying, “Yeongnam is the area where the unified Silla dynasty flourished. Please become the ember to create the map of a unified, heavenly Korea; and spread it nationwide to establish a true heavenly Korea.”

Busan Mayor Seo Byeong-su gave the congratulatory remarks on behalf of the Yeongnam region. He said, “I have known Dr. Moon directly since last year, and by her leadership full of benevolence and energy, I could see why FFWPU is steadily making strides forward.” He also said, “I am very interested in the Korea-Japan undersea tunnel and have a positive perspective on it. The city of Busan has invested in research regarding the viability of such a tunnel.” In conclusion, he claimed, “I hope FFWPU’s movements for true family, true love and a true peaceful world may progress day by day and contribute in breaking down all barriers between nations, races, religions and ideologies.”

Busan City Council Chairman Baek Jong-heon then offered his remarks, “I am delighted to take part in this rally to make a resolution for a reunified Korea and a happy family.” He then said, “Today, in this great transformational period in civilization and political and diplomatic circumstances, we are facing a critical moment in opening a new way for peace on the Korean peninsula.” He claimed, “We can overcome any hardship only when we try to live for one another, warmly embrace and encourage one another and gather together our hearts and strength,” and further emphasized, “We must strive to realize true peace and unification on this land.”

Starting from the Yeongnam district, the “2018 Rally for the Hopeful March Forward for a Heavenly Korea” will be held by five districts. The rally to be held by the Seoul-Incheon district on June 24 at the Cheongshim Peace World Center with a projected attendance of nearly 20,000 people will be followed by rallies by in the Gyeonggi-Gangwon, Chungnam and Honam regions.....
