Chang Shik Yang (Age 60, picture), the Korean President of FFWPU(Unification Church) revealed that “The church will be reformed in to a livelihood religion which takes the plunge and serves the community where ever it is needed in the society, and become a religion which the society needs”.

This comment was given at a press conference on the 12^th, having the 1^st commemoration event of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon(1920~2012) who passed away last September ahead. The church is planning to perform community service through educational work and supports for multi-cultural families. “The DMZ Peace Park was a proposal also made to North Korea by Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon during his lifetime.”

Chang Shik Yang, the president of Unification Church (Currently FFWPU) and the president of the Unification Group revealed at a press conference held a on the 12^th at Seoul Press Center, with having Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s 1^st commemoration event (Lunar calendar, July 17^th) ahead on the 23^rd.

He implied that Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon who has made efforts for the peace and unification of North and South Korea made a proposal to create a DMZ Peace Park to North Korea in July 2000, at the UN general assembly.

Chang Shik Yang(Age 59, picture), the Korean president of Family Federation of World Peace (Unification Church) met with the press on the 12^th at Seoul Press Center and revealed that “Our plan is to be reformed in to a livelihood religion without any differences”. President Yang was a close aid to the late Rev. Dr. Sung Myeong Moon, and currently in charge as the Korean President of FFWP International Office and the Korean Unification Church as the predecessor of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s 7^th son, Hyeong Jin Moon.

The 1^st commemoration event of the founder of the Unification Church, Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon is based on the lunar calendar, and is to be held on the 23^rd of this month. The memorial ceremony is to be held at Cheong Shim Peace World Center, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do from 10 a.m. It is expected that over 20 million people from all over the world including families will attend the event.

‘Rich’ in events for the 1^st commemoration event of FFWP founder, Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon

With the 1^st commemoration of the founder of the Family Federation for World Peace (Unification Church, from here on;Family Federation) who has instilled true love and peace in the society of mankind and Sungwha-ed (passed away) ahead, various commemoration events are planned, such as memorial ceremonies. Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon who has created a worldwide foundation of mission has unfolded various activities such as the international joint wedding transcending nationality and race, the renewal movement of the UN, the propulsion of the international highway project, media, education, art movements and businesses to save the poor, was a ‘Saint of Peace’ who has taught that mankind was ‘one family under God’. He passed away on September 3^rd (July 17^th by the lunar calendar) at the age of 92, at Cheongshim international hospital in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do.

 

Chang Shik Yang, the president of FFWPU held a press conference on the 12^th at the press center and explained that “On welcoming the 1^st anniversary of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s sunghwa, memorial ceremony, photo exhibition, exhibition of his keepsakes, concerts, art festivals and academic seminars.” President Yang accounted that the commemorative events are focused on celebrating the love and the sacrificial spirit the late Rev. Moon has shown for the sake of peace and the salvation of mankind.

According to FFWPU, the memorial ceremony will be held from 10 a.m. on the 23^rd which is the first anniversary of the passing, at Cheongshim Peace World Center, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. As an event before the ceremony, a footage of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon in his lifetime will be shown, and prayers from representatives of religious groups, reports on Rev. Moon’s lifetime achievements, memorial addresses from delegates of different fields, greetings from President Hak Ja Han Moon are planned in order. Around 25million people from over 60 nations from around the world and all walks of life are expected to attend the memorial ceremony. The commemorative event opens with a praising memorial festival held at Cheongbok Chruch at Hangangro 3 ga, Yongsan, Seoul from 5 p.m. The praising memorial festival is scheduled to have a contests of the late Rev. Moon’s favorite songs in the forms of special hymn sung by the Cheongbok Church choir, solo, ensembles and choruses. 

 
The memorial photo exhibition will be held at Uni hall of Segye Times building at Gyeongheegung gil, Chungro, Seoul, from the 18^th to the 24^th. More than 70 historic photos which ended the cold war such as Rev. Moon’s visit to Pyeongyang will be exhibited. The exhibition of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s keepsakes will be held at Cheongjyeonggoon museum in Gapyeong, from the 22^nd to the 24^th. The ‘Original version of the divine principle’ (the draft of the FFWPU holy scripture )written by Rev. Moon himself, his livelihood possessing from the early days, clothing and photographs are to be shown, and will be delivering the fragrance of the late Rev. Moon. International academic conference will be held from the 20^th for 4days at the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul, with Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s philosophy of peace and his achievements as its theme. More than 250 guests consisted of former and current summit level leaders and leaders from the fields of academics and religion from over 20 nations will gather to shed light on the ideals and peace movements conducted by Rev. Sun Myeong Moon. 

Seminar for the religion concurrence movement of the multi-religious society will be held from the 21^st at 11 a.m. at the President Hotel in front of the city hall, hosted by the religious council, and the World Peace Unification Art Festival will be held from the 22^nd to 25^th at Cheongshim Peace World Center.

On the other hand, the Won Mo Pyeong Aeah Foundation founded to celebrate the will of Rev. Moon is planning to invite public participation of education, volunteer service and programs for recognition improvement until October, targeting multi-cultural families, and present them with awards. At Sun Moon University, international academic symposiums, joint seminars with FFWPU and colloquiums by researchers to shed new light on the ideals and achievements of the late Rev. Moon is planned to be held from the second half (September ~ December, and there are also plans to publish series of research (Total of two volumes) with scholars. President Yang said “Since the achievements of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon’s is so great, I hear opinions that they must be made into a national asset”. And that “President Hak Ja Han Moon will uphold the will of Rev. Dr. Sun Myeong Moon, and will devote ourselves to become the religion the world needs, by community service and integration, and by concentrating on educational business.”
