[Yeonhap News] Global Citizens Host Hopes for Peace and Unification Rally at Imjingak in Paju

It was revealed that the Citizen’s Federation for the Unification of Korea, together with the Family Federation for Peace and Unification Japan held the '2013 Global Peace and Unification Rally of 70 Countries' at Imjingak, Paju, Gyeonggi Province on the morning of the 24th.

The event was planned for the hopes to realize Unification and the DMZ as a global peace garden as was attended by ethnic Koreans from Japan, members of the Citizens'Federation for the Unification of Fatherland, representative citizens from 70 countries.

Chairman Seol Yong Su of the Citizens' Federation for the Unification of Fatherland spoke in the opening address about how "this bicycle journey will go down in history in the history of Unification Movements" and emphasized how "this will become a prayer ceremony to comfort those that sacrificed their lives as UN Combatant Troops and Communist Chinese Army soldiers.

[KBS]World Peace and Unification Rally Held at Imjingak

At the 60th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement, participants including those from Korea and Ethnic Koreans from Japan taking part in the Unification Movement along with representatives from 70 countries took part in the '2013 World Peace and Unification Rally' held today at Imjingak in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. 

The event held today included the reading of a resolution for Peace and Unification on the Korean Peninsula and the realization of a world peace park where the demilitarized zone current stands along with various prayer events for peace and unification. 

In particular, there was also a group of about 80 Korean and Japanese youth cyclists who took part in the event. They rode their bikes 3,800 km from Hokkaido, Japan to Imjingak since the 3rd until arriving at Imjingak today...
