A Seonghwa (funeral) for the founder of the Family
Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church hereafter as
Family Federation), Reverend Sun Myung Moon will be held on the morning of the 23rd
at 10 am in the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Having founded the Holy Spirit Association for the
Unification of World Christianity in 1954, the late Reverend Moon has been
dedicated to religious harmony, and aide projects for humankind. He reflected
in his autobiography about how after "that day he climbed Myodusan
Mountain and received the calling from God he has lived a life like that of a

It was discovered on the 18th that the 1st year
anniversary of Revered Moon, the late founder of the Family Federation for
World Peace and Unification (hereafter as Family Federation) will be held on
the 23rd at 10 am at the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi
Province. The memorial event will be held for 7 days. Reverend Moon passed away
on September 3rd last year (July 17 by lunar calendar), but the Family
Federation explained following the standard of major events being scheduled
according to the lunar calendar, this the Reverend's memorial day will be held
on July 17th each year according to the lunar calendar. The Family Federation
also will hold a separate event titled the World Peace and Unification Art Festival
at the Cheonga Camp in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province where contest works of
Western and Korean Painting and pictures will be on display. [E Today] The 1st memorial service was held on the

A Seonghwa (funeral) for the founder of the Family
Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church hereafter as
Family Federation), Reverend Sun Myung Moon will be held on the morning of the 23rd
at 10 am in the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province
where 25,000 are expected to attend the memorial. The official name for the memorial is 'The 1st Heavenly Seonghwa Memorial
for Sun Myung Moon, the True Parent of Heaven and Earth,' and the period for
the event lasted for one week between August 17th and the 23rd. The event is planned to be aired live to 194 countries. As a main event,
20,000 people gathered including VIPs from all walks of life from around the
world to attend to reflect on the life work of Reverend Moon. A memorial
service and a memorial concert began in determination of achieving world peace,
the task left unaccomplished by Reverend Moon. From the 22nd through the 24th the Divine Principle (sacred book of the
Family Federation) that was handwritten by Reverend Moon, everyday articles he
used, various objects, pictures and data are on display at the Cheonjeonggung
Museum. Memorial pictures will be on display at the Segye Ilbo Uni Hall in Jongno,
Seoul from the 18th through the 24th. Segye Ilbo articles and various pictures
about the passionate life and love for mankind of Reverend Moon, a man who worked
his entire life for world peace, the salvation of mankind and the Unification
of North and South Korea, can all be seen through the vivid pictures. The 'ILC International Conference' will be held from 7:30 pm on the 20th
through the 23rd at the Sheraton Grand Walker Hotel in Seoul where about 250
former and current top level leaders, academics, women leaders and peace
ambassadors from 60 countries will interpret and present on the philosophy of
peace and the life work of Reverend Moon. Also, sponsored by the American Washington Times newspaper a seminar will
be held in conjuction with the conference that includes security in Northeast
Asia, the Unification of North and South Korea through 4 countries (South
Korea·United States·Japan·China). At 11 am on the morning of the 21st in the Mozart Hall of the President
Hotel a 'Seminar on the Movement to Unite the Religions of an Interreligious
Society' will be presented to evaulate the movement to unite religions lead by
Reverend Moon and to shed new light on the work among religions to achieve
harmony. A prayer ceremony was held by ethnic Koreans from Japan, praying for peace
and unification on the Korean Peninsula at 1:30 pm on the 24th at Imjingak
hosted by the Citizens' Federation for the Unification of Fatherland and the
Federation for Peace and Unification where about 1500 people gathered at
Imjingak including 250 world leaders and 300 ethnic Koreans living from Japan.
Performances in support of the Unification of North and South Korea, turning the
DMZ into a world peace park and flying unification balloons are planned. The World Peace and Unification Art Festival will be held from the 22nd
through the 25th at the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi
Province, and the awards ceremony is planned for 2 pm. The works of art were on display at the Gapyeong Cheonga Camp hosted by the
Family Federation for Peace and Unification which held an art contest under the
theme of inherting the work of Reverend Moon and was divided into different art
types: western painting, Korean painting, calligraphy, painting in the literal
artistic style, mosaic, scupture and photography Reverend Moon founded the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of
World Christianity in 1954, and has developed it into a global religious group
that has missions in 194 countries around the world. He has been dedicated to
religious harmony, and aide projects for humankind his whole life.
Reverend Moon was a man who worked as a peace loving global citizen. When
he was alive he reflected in his autobiography about how after "that day
he climbed Myodusan Mountain and received the calling from God he has lived a
life like that of a marathon runner for God's will, and assessed his life as
“it was not a path that I could look back on or compromise with anyone about,
it was a path of hardship filled with blood, sweat and tears one that I could
not be filial to my blood relatives.” |
