[Yonhap News] Rev. Ryu Kyeong-seuk, President of FFWPU Korea says
“I hope Cardinal Sujung Yom can fulfill the vital mission of unifying the
Korean Peninsula…”
[NEWSis - Seoul] Rev. Ryu Kyeong-seuk, 50, President of FFWPU Korea delivered the congratulatory
message for Archbishop Yom Sujung, 71, on his appointment to Cardinal.
President Ryu continued, “As he said in his inaugural address, he would dedicate himself to our
especially impoverished and neglected neighbors. I believe he will fulfill the vital
task of integrating our societies, as well as advancing toward the unification
of the Korean peninsula.”
He congratulated, “While
aspiring to be a Catholic who makes more efforts to construct the peaceful
world hoped for by God and Jesus, you can pursue the opening of a new era of
one family under God.”

[Metro] Religious Circles Congratulate the Appointment of
the New Cardinal. “We Expect the Pursuit of Reconciliation and Peace.”
On the 13th of January, 2014, religious
circles delivered a congratulatory message, along with the expectation of the pursuit
of reconciliation and peace, after being informed of the Vatican’s
appointment of Korea’s third Cardinal.
The executive chief of the Korean Buddhist Chogye Order, the
Venerable Jaesung also congratulated his appointment, saying, “Many
people are on board with the cardinal’s message that ‘religion should serve the poor and isolated people.’”
Rev. Ryu Kyeong-seuk, president of FFWPU Korea, said, “I hope the
cardinal can fulfill the vital duties of social cohesion and the unification of
the Korean Peninsula.”
