On March 1st at the Yong Pyong Resort in Pyeongchang, Gangwon, the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation held the “Multicultural Youth Self Directed Learning Camp.”

Approximately 66 multicultural youth and 34 university students from around the country were selected to be mentors for a coaching and mentoring camp.

This camp aims to foster multicultural youth in Korea to become global talents.

The majority of the mentors were volunteers, and 80% of them hail from multicultural families.
“Through this camp, both the mentors and mentees are able to mutually grow. This will lead to the expansion of multicultural volunteering and the growth of talented international individuals. During the camp, the mentors share with the mentees stories of how they were able to grow, as well as the learning methods that they implement in their own lives. The mentors plan to continue to guide their mentees even after the camp,” said a representative from the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation.

On February 9th this year, the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation awarded youth from 54 countries, including Korea and Japan, with 10 billion won in scholarships.

The Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation (CEO Kim Min Ha), the scholarship organization of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, held the “Multicultural Youth Self Directed Learning Camp,” a weeklong workshop starting on the 23rd at the Yong Pyong Resort in Gangwon-Do, Pyeongchang-Gu.

Self-Directed Learning involves students voluntarily choosing their own methods of education, and is said to be effective in increasing concentration, confidence and aptitude.

About 100 mentors were selected from around the country to act as mentoring coaches, including 66 youth from multicultural families and 34 university students. All of the multicultural youth residing in Korea carried the magnificent goal of fostering globally talented individuals.

Over 80% of the university students acting as mentors hailed from multicultural families. Both the mentors and mentees were able to share stories of their own growth, and sought to seek the expansion of multicultural volunteering and the growth of talented international individuals. During the camp, the mentors shared with the mentees stories of how they were able to grow through methods that they implement in their own lives. The system is expected to be very effective, as the mentors plan to continue to guide their mentees in the future.

During the workshop, the multicultural youth shared a special lecture that outlined a multicultural vision. The participants were also able to experience the thrill of winter sports through a skiing workshop, thanks to camp sponsorship by Yong Pyong Resort.

On February 9th this year, the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation awarded youth from 54 countries, including Korea and Japan, with 10 billion won in scholarships.
