Women’s Federation for World Peace, the leadership of Yeon-Ah Moon…Appointed as the World President and Korea President
Yeon Ah Moon (41) was appointed as the World President and Korea President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace on the 3rd at the Main Hall in the Cheong-Pa Dong Unification Building.
President Moon said, “The Women’s Federation will make a new start with the women leaders, presidents and members, as it strives to become more than just an NGO, in order to bring together the worldwide governments, organizations and individuals on the path to establishing world peace.”
President Moon graduated from the Sociology Department at the Ehwa University. She completed her master’s degree at the Unification Theology School in the United States, and acquired her honorary theology doctorate degree at the Sun Moon University. She has been active as the Vice President of the Women’s Federation since 2009. She is also the Chairman of the Sun-Hak Scholarship Foundation, the director of the Universal Ballet Foundation and a professor of Theology and Pure Love at the Sun Moon University.
The Women’s Federation was established by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon on April 10th, 1992, at the Olympic Stadium in Jamsil, Seoul, with women representatives from over 70 nations and 15,000 Korean women leaders in attendance. After the Special Guest Lecture by Dr. Hak Ja Han at the UN Headquarters in New York in September, 1993, the Women’s Federation received the United Nations Economic and Social Council NGO’s highest status of “the First NGO Advisory Council” in 1997. Until now, the Women’s Federation has maintained this status four consecutive times, and has been carrying out activities as an NGO with branches and members in over 160 nations.
