“‘Four Years of Hope’ for North-South Relations Until 2020”

Meeting with FFWPU Korea President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu

“10 Billion Won Scholarship to 2,000 Individuals at Home and Abroad”

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Korea’s President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu held a meeting at the beginning of the year on the 26th. The focus of the meeting was the year 2020.

“The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s birth. These remaining four years will become the ‘Four Years of Hope’ for North-South relations.” The Unification Church will hold a celebratory event for the anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s birth on the 13th of next month at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, with 30,000 people in attendance. Approximately 150 active politicians from each nation will also be attending the event.

FFWPU Korea President Ryu explained, “We will also have an opportunity to discuss what each nation’s politicians can do for the reunification of the Korean peninsula.”

“In addition, 2,000 people (500 from Korea, 1,500 from elsewhere) will be selected as global scholarship students and recipients of 10 billion won.” After a helicopter with Rev. Sun Myung Moon on board was forced to make an emergency landing in 2008, the Unification Church purchased a new helicopter model, but sold it again soon after Rev. Moon’s passing for 50 billion won. The scholarship money is supplemented by the funds raised from this helicopter....[See the original story]

FFWPU ‘Becoming a Mature Religion That Will Permeate Local Communities’

Meeting with FFWPU Korea President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu…“Construction of the Multicultural Peace Center in Gapyeong”

“Religions should not be political. When the dignity and essence of human beings is collapsing, religions should assume those roles. Our task during these next four years is to become a mature religion that will permeate local communities.”

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church, hereafter FFWPU) Korea’s President Kyeung-Seuk Ryu met with reporters at the Press Center in Seoul on the 26th and stated, “The remaining four years until 2020, which marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, have been named the ‘Four Years of Hope’ with the motto ‘maturity of the people’s religion.’”

President Ryu explained, “After Rev. Moon departed from this world in 2013, we prepared the foundation and worked hard to settle down in a system rooted in the FFWPU. We will aspire to maintain the internal stability of the organization that has been working towards the salvation of humankind, peace, North-South unification, etc.”

Starting with Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s Holy Birthday Celebration on February 13 (January 6 by the Lunar Calendar) and ending with the Foundation Day celebration on February 20 (January 13 by the Lunar Calendar), which Rev. Moon referred to as “the day of peace and harmony,” the FFWPU will host a series of events over eight days.

Approximately 150 National Assembly members from America, England, Israel, Jordan, etc., as well as 30 media outlets from around the world, are expected to attend.

President Ryu explained, “National Assembly members visiting Korea will be participating in the International Leadership Conference (ILC) to discuss climate change, peace and stability of the Korean peninsula, the role of religion, etc.”

Regarding the annual Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation scholarship, he expressed, “10 billion won in scholarship money will be presented to approximately 2,000 students from all over the world. Fifteen religious groups, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (commonly known as the “Mormon Church”), the Korean Buddhist Taego Order, etc., will also gather to enact the Charter of Religious Peace.”

A musical entitled, “Dreams of the Cheon Il Guk Butterfly” will be presented on stage, and the Love-Sharing Festival will also be held.

Meanwhile, the FFWPU is planning to set up a 3,300 building called the Korean Multicultural Peace Center (tentative name) in Seorak-myeon to ensure that the growing multicultural families will not be excluded. This building will contain cultural and educational facilities, as well as an alternative school.

President Ryu determined, “Rev. Moon said that we must unite by the year 2020. We will take the leap and become the FFWPU that will bring forth the era of unification.”....[See the original story]
