As the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (the Unification Church) prepared for the 4th anniversary of the founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon's ascension, they announced on August 8 that they will prepare various events including the “Peace Road 2016: Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula and Realization of the DMZ World Peace Park” and the “International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP).”
Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu (photo), the Chairman of FFWPU-Korea said on this day, "It was a period of mourning until the 3rd anniversary, but beginning from the 4th anniversary, we will have a festive atmosphere." He said, "We will hold the commemorative ceremony at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi province on the 19th with the theme, 'Sublimating our filial piety and love for heaven into beacons of the world.’" Rev. Ryu continued, "We are planning to create an organization that can focus the activities to the problems of conflict, refugees, terror, religion, etc., by founding the 'International Parliamentarians for Peace Association' where parliamentary representatives from all countries in the world will take on central roles.
At the “DMZ Peace Road” event, over 200 youths rode bicycles around the Demilitarized Zone area to express their longing for the peace in the Korean Peninsula. The 4th Memorial of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the founder of Family Federation for World Peace (FFWPU) will be held on August 19 at Cheong Shim Peace World Center at Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Before this event, which anticipates the attendance of more than 30,000 key personnel from both Korea and abroad to attend, Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, FFWPU-Korea president (photo), had a press conference on the 8th and said, "The FFWPU does not believe in physical resurrection." He emphasized, "Death is never a sorrowful or a grief-stricken event because it is when your spirit can return to the eternal original homeland of God. This event, which is held with the theme, 'Sublimating our filial piety and love for heaven into beacons of the world,' shows the will to spread Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon's ideology of filial piety toward Heaven (God) to the whole of humanity.”
Rev. Sun Myung Moon, who founded the Unification Church (FFWPU) on 1954, was honored in a Seonghwa Ceremony after his ascension on September 3, 2012. The FFWPU currently has missionary countries in 194 nations, with around 30,000 members in Korea and over 3 million members overseas. From the latter half of the year, they are planning to found the “International Parliamentarians for Peace Association,” which will help move the parliamentary elements in all nations.
The European founding rally will be held in London at the beginning of next month, and the South American rally will be held on October.
Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, a 2nd Generation member of FFWPU who became chairman of FFWPU-Korea three years ago said, "Terrorism is occurring in various places throughout the world. We are planning to spread awareness on the dangers of terrorism and to attempt to create world peace by expanding the Parliamentarians for Peace Association in Korea and throughout the world. The official title of the 4th commemoration ceremony is “The Fourth Anniversary of the Universal Seonghwa of Sun Myung Moon, the True Parent of Heaven, Earth and Humankind.” This ceremony, with the theme, “Sublimating our filial piety and love for heaven into beacons of the world,” was a festival celebrating the life works of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ha Han Moon, as well as their dedication toward enlightening the world with their peace ideology, and passing down their culture of filial piety.
Various events will take place, including the 4th Anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Seonghwa Ceremony as the commemorative event, the completion ceremony of the “Peace Road 2016: Peaceful Re-Unification of the Korean Peninsula” in Korea, the International Collegiate Symposium to Promote World Peace and the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula, Religious Peace Seminar, Peace Cup Tournament for Religious Peace 2016, Inaugural Meeting for the Cheon Il Guk National Academy of Sciences and the Multicultural Peace Festival 2016, etc.

‘This will be the Center of Festivity that Lights Up the World,’ says Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, President of FFWPU-Korea
(Seoul = Yonhap News) reporter Ki-Hoon Kim—The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) announced on August 8 that they will open various events, including the “DMZ Peace Road: Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula,” the “International Collegiate Symposium to Promote World Peace and the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula,” etc.. as they commence the 4th Anniversary of their founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Ascension (July 17 by the lunar calendar).
Rev. Kyeung-Seuk Ryu, President of FFWPU-Korea, held a press conference at the Jung Gu Press Center in Seoul on that day. He revealed that the ''4th Annual Commemoration Ceremony of the Universal Seonghwa of Sun Myung Moon, the True Parent of Heaven, Earth and Humankind” will be held on August 19, at 9 am at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Gapyong-gung, Gyeonggi province, with around 30,000 participants attending.
Rev. Ryu shed light on the significance surrounding this commemoration ceremony, saying that "The center of festivity will enlighten the world with the peace ideology of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, by bequeathing to us their culture of the heart of filial piety and by spreading their life achievements far and wide.
In following, he explained that, "If the commemoration ceremonies leading up to the 3rd Anniversary of Rev. Moon's Seonghwa fulfilled the period of grace and mourning, from this year on, it will become a center of festivity which symbolizes peace and love that can transcend even death."
"Seonghwa (ascension to the spiritual world) signifies the moment you enter the spiritual world where your life on earth blossoms and bears fruit as you enter into the realm of joy and victory." According to this teaching of Rev. Moon, they aim to instill into everyone the positive message surrounding the meaning of death.
The 'DMZ Peace Road for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula' will be held on the coming 16th as the main commemorative event.
As one of the “Peace Road 2016” events, which will be held in 140 nations in order to commemorate the achievements and legacy of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon's peace and unification movement, over 1,200 university and high school students from 63 nations will gather at Imjingak in Paju to ride bicycles along the Demilitarized Zone and pray for the realization of the DMZ World Peace Park.
On the following day on August 17, the “International Collegiate Symposium to Promote World Peace and the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula” will be held at the National Assembly Memorial Hall, where the university students will discuss the tasks necessary to actualize the reunification of North and South Korea and achieve world peace.
