The first Tongil Group Wives’ International Workshop was held in March, with the second workshop being held in June. The third workshop was recently held from September 29th to October 2nd, at the Urayatsu Ilshim Special Training Center, and was attended by wives of 27 Tongil Group executives.
On the first day, September 29th, the 27 wives had their first awkward but cheerful meeting at Narita Airport. On the way to the training center, the participants went sightseeing, visiting spots including the Shinsho-ji Temple and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office Building. The opening ceremony and welcoming dinner were held upon their arrival at the training center.
Many heads of Family Federation and other organizations brightened up the room with their attendance at the welcoming banquet. District Director Yook-Hyun Jo began the opening ceremony with an opening address, followed by a welcoming speech by Sakura President Motou Furuta at the welcoming dinner. President Furuta acknowledged and welcomed the esteemed guests who had come from Korea to attend the workshop. In order to welcome the Tongil Group wives, Korean wives living in Korea prepared a commemorative performance. The serving and welcoming spirit left a deep impression in the hearts of the Tongil Group wives.
The second day, September 30th, kicked off with an educational presentation by District Director Yook-Hyun Jo on the founding principles of Tongil Group. The complex principles were presented in four 50-minute lecture sessions. These principles were introduced in an engaging, straightforward manner, creating a light and cheerful atmosphere throughout the training center. Director Jo explained the upright principles and values of creating a true family.
After the presentation of the founding principles, Family Federation Japanese President Eiji Tokuno held a special lecture. He gave a presentation entitled “Unification Movements in Japan,” which covered various topics ranging from his own experiences to the history between Japan and Korea. Through his unique love for Korea, President Tokuno hinted at how the two nations could grow into mutual prosperity through improving their relationship.
After watching the MBCNET video “The Hope of South America: The Dream of the Pantanal,” a final lecture was given by Director Sang-Il Bang of the Japanese Witnessing and Education Center, during which testimonies were given on the Family Federation’s work in Japan.
Afterwards, to encourage friendship and harmony, a unification activity was conducted in the evening. The wives were divided into teams by company. To show their teamwork, each team had to perform a dance and a song together. Small gifts were then given to each team, enhancing the enjoyment of the participants. The unification activity provided an opportunity for the wives to get to know one another better, and to strengthen their bonds of friendship.
On the third day, October 1st, the participants had an opportunity to go sightseeing in Tokyo. Through visiting Asakusa and the Ooedo Onsen, a ride on the Tokyo cruise ship and other activities, the wives were able to experience a new culture and see Japan through a different vantage point.
On the last day, a closing ceremony was held in the morning. A video was shown of footage taken during the workshop, and several wives gave testimonies on their experiences over the past four days. The wives of Tongil Group expressed their sincere gratitude to the Korean and Japanese wives who prepared the food and activities for the four-day workshop. Many also said that they had misjudged Tongil Group, and that the presentation on the founding principles gave them a refurbished, positive image of the Family Federation. Some also said that they realized the importance of family through the workshop. One last sightseeing trip was carried out before the wives returned to the airport. "This workshop caused me to resolve the prejudice I had against the Family Federation and to boost my loyalty to Tongil Group. I was given the chance to cultivate a positive attitude, thanks to the wonderful lectures. When I saw people around me giving love so warmly and sincerely, I too felt like I could sincerely love the people around me, and made a decision to give my best in life from now on. I was surprised to learn so many new things about Tongil Group. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience." "The first day, with its warm welcomes, was enough to open my heart. When I heard the words of the Korean people who suffered so much, I couldn’t control myself. The lectures were good as well, and when I saw the people around me, who were giving so much of themselves to service and volunteering, I felt like I was able to really understand the teachings of Rev.
