The 2016 Tongil Group Employee Wives Seminar in America that was hosted by the Tongil Group took place from the 16th to 23rd of May, over eight days, in New York and Washington D.C., with a program meant to perpetuate the experience, lives and footprints of founders of the Tongil Group, Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han. The workshop in America was attended by 41 members of the Employee Wives and the staff of the Tongil Foundation, the Segye Times, Ilhwa, TIC, Ilshin Stone, Yongpyong Resort, Shinjeong Development, Sunwon Construction, JC, Saeilo, Asia Forum and Pyeongnong. Founder’s Ideology Education_North American Continent President of the FFWPU, Ki-Hoon Kim Manhattan Center Tour The beginning of the seminar took place at the New Yorker Hotel. Located on the main street of New York, the New Yorker Hotel is an iconic landmark steeped in 100 years of tradition, and after being purchased to be used as the World Missions Headquarters in 1976, it is currently managing 1,000 rooms and serves as the American Family Federation Headquarters. Here, American President of the Family Federation, Ki-Hoon Kim, gave a keynote speech about the 50 years of activities by Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han in America. The activities in America began with the founder’s visit in 1965 and the establishment of 53 holy grounds in 43 days. Through the tour of the New Yorker Hotel and the Manhattan Center, the suite room that former President Jimmy Carter stayed in the week before was visited, and on the day before and the Manhattan Center theater that was used by an American pop singer was visited as well. anniversary commemorating the Times’ first
issue was held, along with the welcoming ceremony for the Tongil Group Employee Wives Seminar. In order to welcome the 41 wives of employees that had come
from Korea, VIPs including Yumi Hogan, the Congressional First Lady of Maryland,
former Congressman Dan Burton, Family Federation Business Group Chairman of
Board Michael Jenkins, Washington Times
CEO Larry Beasley, and Washington Times Foundation Chairman Tom McDevitt
participated, gracing the occasion. As part of a cultural visit to Washington,
the Washington Monument Square, where a massive religious rally attended by
approximately 300,000 people took place, was toured, along with the White
House, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the
Korean War Veterans Memorial.
Founder’s Ideology Education—Thomas Walsh, UPF International President East Garden Tour Belvedere Tour In addition, the East Garden and Belvedere estates, from which founders Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han put much effort while working in America for 40 years, was also visited. At East Garden, UPF International President Thomas Walsh shared in detail the peace activities and achievements of both founders based on the UN. Other than that, through a cultural visit to New York, as well as Niagara Falls, ample time was spent learning and experiencing the culture of the United States.
Through this 2016 Tongil Group Employee Wives Seminar in America, the 41 employees’ wives were able to personally walk in the footsteps of founders Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han, making it a time where they could once again proudly say they are part of the Tongil Group family. |
